Alan Hayes

Prof Hayes is the Acting Director of the Australian Institute for Musculoskeletal Science (AIMSS) and is the Program Director of the Sarcopenia: Basic and Translational at AIMSS. They are also an Associate Director of Research Training at the Institute for Health and Sport (IHES) at Victoria University (VU). Prof Hayes is a world-renowned muscle and exercise physiologist with expertise in using exercise and nutritional and/or pharmacological supplements to treat muscle wasting conditions. They have extensive experience in conducting human trials, including muscle biopsy collection, and using animal models to directly explore muscle function, metabolism and mechanistic cell signalling.
