Dr Alexander Viardot MBBS PhD FRACP
Staff Specialist – Department of Endocrinology, St Vincent’s Hospital
Dr Viardot has been trained in Internal Medicine an Endocrinology in Switzerland and joined the medical workforce at St Vincent’s Hospital in 2004. He completed a PhD at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research (2006-8) and also performed a postdoctoral Fellowship at Imperial College in London (2010-11). He returned to the Department of Endocrinology as Staff Specialist in 2012 and continues his postdoctoral research Fellowship at the Garvan Institute focusing on abnormalities in the immune system and appetite suppressing gut hormones in obesity, type 2 diabetes and Prader-Willi syndrome. He has broad clinical experience in managing complex cases of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
